Dr. Clifford T. Bauer

Dr. Clifford T. Bauer, 90, of 3583 Lakeridge Drive, Jamestown, formerly of Martin Road, Kiantone, passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.

He was born May 29, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of the late Clifford N. and Viola T. Topham Bauer.

Dr. Bauer was a 1946 graduate of Perry High School in Pittsburgh, went on to obtain his B.S. and Medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He interned at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital after which he served as 1st Lt. with the 1st Marine Air Wing in Korea from 1954 to 1955. Completed his Anesthesia residency at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City in 1958 when he came to Jamestown and began the first anesthesia practice at WCA and Jamestown General Hospital.

He was a 60-year member of the McKinley Stuckrath Masonic Lodge of Pittsburgh, served on the Chautauqua County Board of Health, was a councilman for the Town of Kiantone and an active member of Stillwater United Methodist Church serving on various committees.

He greatly enjoyed working with tools, especially woodworking, tinsmithing, and blacksmithing. Much of free time was spent gardening, hunting, and camping and traveling with his wife to all the 50 states.

Surviving are his wife, Ida Brandt Bauer, his high school sweetheart, whom he married June 28, 1952; his children: Patricia (Greg) Becker of Sarasota, Fla., Jeff Bauer of Jamestown, Glenn (Dr. Gretchen Blair) Bauer of The Dalles, Ore., Robert M. Bauer of Pittsburgh, Pa., Amy Bauer of Walden, Colo.; seven grandchildren: Kelly and Daniel Becker, Corey, Ricky, Juliet, Brandt, and Michael Bauer; and four great-grandchildren.

No visitation will be observed and a private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
