Roger N. Marsh

Roger N. Marsh, 85, of Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing, formerly of North Pearl Street, Frewsburg, passed away Monday (Dec. 3, 2018) at Heritage Village.

He was born Sept. 24, 1933, in Stockton, the son of Carl and Wilma Osgood Marsh.

Roger was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He had been employed by the former Proto Tool for many years and later at Reed Manufacturing and American Meeter in Erie, Pa., before retiring in 1998.

Roger returned to Cassadaga in 2004, and then relocated to Frewsburg in 2015.

He was a longtime member of the Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280, former member of the Cassadaga Baptist Church and attended the Kiantone Congregational Church.

He was a huge sports fan and had coached Little League baseball, Babe Ruth, played baseball for Jamestown Old-Timers, and softball for Skippies Bar and Grill.

Roger is survived by his wife, Ethel Brown Marsh, whom he married March 21, 1923; four sons: Steven (JoAnn) Marsh of Westfield, Timothy (Becky) Marsh of Salisbury, N.C., Daniel (Merrilynn) Marsh of Titusville, Pa., and Jeffery (Jill) Marsh of Frewsburg; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Marsh of Stockton; a sister, Doloris “Dottie” Muzzy of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Michael Marsh in 1974; two granddaughters: a sister, Bessie Kelley; and seven brothers: Claire, Howard, John, Kenneth, Paul, Gordon and Carl Benjamin Jr.

The funeral will be held at noon, Thursday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. Pastor Mel McGinnis will officiate. Burial will be in Cassadaga Cemetery.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
