Ruth D. Thompson

Ruth D. Thompson, 96, of 101 Hollybrooke Lane Frewsburg, passed away Saturday (Nov. 10, 2018) at her home.

She was born March 3, 1922, in Warren, the daughter of Theodore and Jennie Swanson Olson.

Before retiring, she was a purchasing agent for National Forge and Erie Forge.

Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Warren and the Conewango Club.

She lived for her family and loved having them around her.

Ruth was a lady with a positive attitude and an uplifting spirit. She easily made friends with those she came in contact with. Ruth always presented herself with much class and also shared her wonderful sense of humor with others.

She was known by many as the “hat lady”.

She enjoyed garage sales, keeping track of the stock market, and had just recently enjoyed a trip to New York City.

Ruth is survived by two children: Roxy (Robert) Gray of Frewsburg and William (Cathy) Dove of Orlando, Fla.; three granddaughters: Christy (Brian) Dove Fronczek of Orlando, Holly (David) Marshall of Pittsford, N.Y., and Brooke (Garrett) Moller of Frewsburg; and six great-great- grandchildren: Gray, Jackson, Emerson, Lincoln, Oaklyn and Case.

She was predeceased by an infant son, William D. Dove; her first husband, William R. Dove; her second husband, Bernard Thompson; a brother, Ted Olson; and a sister, Helen Gary.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church in Warren.

The family asks that anyone who wishes, to please wear a hat to the service in Ruth’s honor.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the church.

Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park.
