Maxine Anna Lawson McCullor

Maxine Anna Lawson McCullor, 92, formerly of Falconer, passed away Saturday, Nov, 10, 2018m in the Lutheran Home.

She was born Oct, 25, 1926, the daughter of the late Godfrey and Grace Hilgendorf Lawson in Jamestown, N,Y,, and had lived in the Falconer area all of her life. She was confirmed in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Falconer, N.Y.

Maxine was a 1943 graduate of Falconer High School. On July 28, 1947 she married Maynard McCullor, son of Vernon and Gladys McCullor.

She was a member of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church, at one time she was a member of its choir and administrative board. She also belonged to the Fenton Historical Society, Audubon Society, and she and her husband were members of the Southern Tier Wood Carvers Association. Maxine made many chip carvings especially celtic crosses, which she had given to many of her friends.

She enjoyed visiting several nursing homes on Wednesday afternoons. You might find her at Heritage Green, Lutheran, the former Hultquist Care Center as well as Heritage Village in Gerry.

Before her marriage, she had worked for optometrists Drs. Cook and Denton, and was employed as a long distance telephone operator. She worked for 22 years as secretary for DeBell Vending Co., retiring in 1986.

She and her family took many vacations. After their sons were grown, they continued to travel somewhere each summer. After retirement, they spent parts of each winter in Florida for 14 years. In 2002, they began to enjoy home in Falconer.

Surviving are two sons: Douglas (Lamae) McCullor of Jamestown, and Dean (Elizabeth) McCullor of Frewsburg; three grandchildren: Derek McCullor of Dunkirk, Jeffrey (Emily) McCullor of Erie, Pa., and Mark C. (Melissa) McCullor of Clifton, Va.; three great-grandchildren: Olivia McCullor of Erie, Pa., and Natalie and Mason Kees, both of Clifton, VA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard E. “Mac” McCullor, whom she married June 28, 1947, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and who died May 9, 2017; a sister, Beatrice Meabon in 1976; two brothers: Leslie “Les” Lawson in 1984 and Theodore “Ted” Lawson in 1995; her sister-in-law, Betty Lawson in 2017; a niece, Patricia Fox in 1978; and a nephew, Cameron “Butch” Meabon in 2007.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 17, 2018) in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain of the Lutheran Home will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 6-8 p.m., Friday in the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral service Saturday in the funeral home.
