Donald J. Woleben “DJ”

Donald J. Woleben “DJ,” 74, of Fredonia, N.Y., boarded his final train ride home on Monday, November 26, 2018 with his loving family near his side.

DJ was born Dec. 21, 1943, in Westfield, N.Y., a son to the late DeForest and Gladys (Farnham) Woleben.

Don graduated from Brocton Central School and then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. After completion of his service, he became employed at Kem Dengler Chevrolet in Westfield, N.Y., as an auto mechanic until it closed. He was then employed by SUNY Fredonia as a custodian working with his late wife.

Don loved trains, big and small and loved traveling and the outdoors. He also enjoyed tinkering and fixing just about anything and especially enjoyed reading owners manuals from front to back on cars and trucks.

When time permitted, Don loved spending time with his many friends.

He is survived by his two children: Scott (Kelly) Woleben of Silver Creek, N.Y., and Kim (Gene) Cook of Westfield, N.Y.; and his cherished grandchildren: Stephanie and Derek Cook and Brady and Matt Woleben. He is further survived by his three sisters: Beverly Mulkin and Debbie Willey of Fredonia, and Jan Newman of Virginia; and his furry companion, Peggy Sue.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy (Loup) Woleben, who passed away March 20, 2015.

The family also wishes to give a special thank-you to Dr. Putman, Jackie, Rachael and Jodi of Hospice and caregivers Gina and Kim for their kind and considerate care.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at 11 a.m., from the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, N.Y. Rev. Richard Ricker of the Fredonia Methodist Church will officiate. Full military honors will be accorded to him by The American Legion John W Dill Post 434 of Brocton, N.Y., at the conclusion of the service.

There will be visitation for family and friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the start of the memorial service at the funeral home.
