Howard L. Peru Jr.

RANDOLPH — Howard L. Peru Jr., 62, of Route 242, Town of Coldspring, passed away Saturday (Sept. 15, 2018) at home due to a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 20, 1955, in Westfield, N.Y., the son of the late Howard LeRoy and Gladys Leona Ringer Peru Sr.

Howard attended Jamestown High School and prior to his disability, he had been a self-employed mechanic at his shop, Levant Auto Center in Falconer. He had also been a carpenter for many years.

His interests included NASCAR, hunting, fishing and working on cars.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce E. Lanphere Peru, whom he married on Dec. 1, 1974; a son, Merle D. Peru of Lakewood; two daughters: Amy J. Clark of Jamestown and Taylor P. Peru of Randolph; two grandchildren: Alyssa L. Kester and Symon Trask of Jamestown and a great-grandson; Isaac Martin of Jamestown.

Howard is additionally survived by two brothers: Stanley Peru of Falconer and Gerald Peru of Corry, Pa. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Trudy Pickle and Paul Peru.

As per Howard’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services held. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, Randolph.
