Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Balcom Harper

WESTFIELD — Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Balcom Harper, 58, of Westfield, and formerly of Mayville, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at Westfield Memorial Hospital, with family at her side.

She was born Oct. 16, 1959, in Westfield, N.Y., the daughter of Marie Brazone Nelson and the late Clarence “Terry” Balcom.

Cindy was employed by Westfield Memorial Hospital for over 40 years as a Patient Data Manager.

She was a member of the Westfield-Mayville Rotary Club serving as secretary and on the Board of Directors, the Westfield Hospital Auxiliary serving as secretary, the Union Relief Association of Westfield, and was the previous president of the Westfield Midget Football League.

Cindy enjoyed shopping, spending time with the Old Timers Group, devoting time to Westfield Memorial Hospital, family vacations, and family get togethers.

She is survived by her husband, David Harper, whom she married Sept. 6, 1986, in the Mayville United Methodist Church; her two sons: Don (Emily) Paddock of Westfield, and Kyle (Jess) Harper of Portland, N.Y.; her mother, Marie (Al) Nelson of Jamestown; two grandchildren: Brayden and Braxtyn Paddock; six step-siblings: Janet, Randy, Sandy, Ann, Michael and Dianel; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family also would like to recognize and give a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, friends and family members who helped to take care of Cindy during her illness.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Clarence “Terry” Balcom, and her step-mother, Patricia Balcom.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St, 14757). The Rev. Mark Parsons will officiate.

The family will receive friends for three hours prior to the service (4-7 p.m.) at the funeral home.
