Enid I. (Lindsey) Beadle

BARCELONA, N.Y. — Enid I. (Lindsey) Beadle, 99, formerly of Westfield and Barcelona, died Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Heritage Green Rehab and SNF of Greenhurst, N.Y., following an extended illness.

Enid was born March 25, 1919, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Charles H. and Elva (Gates) Lindsey. She married Clarence “Andy” Beadle on July 11, 1942, in Westfield. Sadly, Andy preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 1995.

Enid had been a resident of Barcelona for almost all her life, except for the years her husband was stationed in Clayton, N.Y., while he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. She attended School in Jamestown and had been a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Westfield.

Enid had been employed as a butcher’s assistant with the former Bells and Loblaws supermarkets until her retirement in 1981. She would also assist her late husband, Andy, with his commercial fishing business, doing anything possible, especially stringing nets. She enjoyed crocheting and keeping her home and yard in near perfect condition. Enid was a very thoughtful person, who enjoyed making friends and making people smile. She was an avid baseball fan and loved “her Atlanta Braves!” Enid was loved by all her caretakers at the nursing facilities where she had resided, for which her family is very grateful.

Enid is survived by her daughter, Sandra S. (Emerson) Chandler of Mayville, N.Y.; her son, Charles Duane (Joan) Aldrich of Albuquerque, N.M.; as well as 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grand children.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Enid was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Beadle; two sons: Carlton “Bud” Beadle and Dennis Beadle; and by two sisters: Geneva Sample and Franka Starr.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 7, 2018, from 6-8 p.m., at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, N.Y., and are invited to attend her funeral service there on Friday morning, June 8, 2018, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Ronald Sumption officiating. Burial will be private in Westfield Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Carlton W. “Bud” Beadle Scholarship, c/o WACS, 210 E. Main St., Westfield, NY 14787.
