Carol J. Giddy

Carol J. Giddy, 85, formerly of East Pearl Street, Falconer, passed away Sunday (June 10, 2018) in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing.

A lifelong area resident, she was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late James W. and Evelyn Forsberg LeRoy.

Carol was a 1951 graduate of Falconer High School and in earlier years was employed by Anderson Winchester Insurance. For most of her life she was a dedicated homemaker.

Carol was a member of the First Baptist Church of Falconer, and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading and writing poetry. Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother who had a compassionate heart, gentle spirit and a great sense of humor.

Surviving are four children: Robert W. (Becky) Giddy of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Karen (Paul) Pfeffer of Jamestown, Becky Weber of Frewsburg and Merry Tordoff of Bemus Point; a son-in-law, John Wysard of Mountain Top, Pa.; 13 grandchildren: Brooke (Steve) Chwiej, Amber (Eric) Laylon, Jordan Giddy, Jacqueline Eusebio, Casey (Eugene) Smith, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Wright, Darren Wright, Kimberly Weber (Pat Dove) Nicole Weber, Ashley Tordoff, Brett Tordoff, Amy (Brad) Albright, Beth (Jeff) Kresge; 11 great-grandchildren: Asher and Bodhi Eusebio, Harlow and Hendrix Smith, Eleanore, Emmett, Eden and Edric Laylon, Madison and Haleigh Albright and Jackson Kresge; and a sister, Donna Barlow of Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Giddy, whom she married July 14, 1951, in the First Baptist Church of Falconer. Carol and Don were the first couple to be married in the new church in 1951. Carol was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Allen Giddy in 1955; a daughter, Joy Wysard in 2014; and a brother, Rodney LeRoy in 2014.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be in Levant Cemetery. The Rev. Gordon Robbins, pastor of First Baptist Church of Falconer will officiate.
