Roy Folke Olson

He was born Feb. 18, 1934, in Jamestown, a son of the late K. Algot and Agnes Larson Olson Franson. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Enor Franson, as well as a brother, Danny C. Olson.

A lifelong area resident, Roy was a 1953 graduate of Jamestown High School and served from 1956-58 in the U.S. Army with duty in Germany.

Throughout the years, he was a butcher for several local markets, including the GMA Store, the A&P Store in Brooklyn Squar, and retired from Quality Markets.

Roy was a member of the Vikings and enjoyed fishing, yard work and in later years, bicycling at Presque Isle in Erie, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, the former Ann-Marie Johnson, whom he married Nov. 1, 1958; two sons: Mark (Pauline) Olson of Jamestown and Ruben (Karen) Olson of Amherst, N.H.; five grandchildren: Justin and Matthew Olson of Jamestown, Ashleigh Olson of Colorado, and Andrea and Adam Olson of Amherst, N.H.; two stepgranddaughters: Erin Black of Jamestown and Nicole Badgley of Augusta, Ga.; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service, from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
