AMITY — Patricia A. Shelley, 55, passed away peacefully at home on Monday (Jan. 15, 2018) after struggling with chronic illness for many years. Mrs. Shelley was born July 1, 1962, in North Tonawanda, to Donovan E. and Constance Jane (Copenhaver) Tapley. She graduated from Cuba Central School in 1980. On March 30, 2002, in Jamestown, she married Dirk Shelley, who survives.
Patricia held a variety of positions and occupations during her working years. She spent approximate 15 years as a bank teller, most recently at Steuben Trust Company in Wellsville.
In addition to her husband, Patty is survived by her children: Amber (Jeremy) Clemons of Andover, Douglas (Teresa) Allen of Lake Okeechobee, Fla., Jason Shelley of Greensboro, N.C., Jamie (Amanda) Shelley of Arkport and Mariah Shelley of Scio; six grandchildren: Gabriel Halsey and Delilah Clemons of Andover, Collin Allen and Matthew Allen of Lake Okeechobee, Fla., and Jamison Shelley and Mila Shelley of Arkport; her brother, Donovan (Suzanne) Tapley of Belfast; her brother-in-law, David Krivulka of Belfast; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Deborah Krivulka in 2017; and a granddaughter, Arianna Allen in 2009.
She was a baptized member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses for approximately 40 years. Most recently, she was associated with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Wellsville, where she devoted a great deal of time and service. Patty enjoyed reading and spending time with people. She found fulfillment in studying the Bible and sharing with others what she had learned. She was a humorous and generous woman, willing to be a help where she could. She loved her grandchildren and cherished the time spent with them.
According to Patty’s wishes, there will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 3 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 115 Chamberlain St., Wellsville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
