David Paul Smith

He was born Oct. 17, 1962, in Westfield, N.Y., the son of Pete Smith and Jeannette Woods Brumfield.

David had worked for Mayshark Builders as a carpenter.

He was a faithful member of the Dewittville Christian Missionary Alliance Church.

David loved the outdoors; bow hunting, fishing and trapping. He was also an avid reader. Most of all he loved being with his family.

He is survived by his wife; Ann Gilbert Smith, whom he married July 7, 1987, in Lake Placid, N.Y.; his parents, Pete Smith of Mayville and Jeannette (William) Woods Brumfield of Sanborn, N.Y.; one son; Thaddeus (Amber) Smith of Lakewood; one daughter; Calista (Jacob) Johnson of Jamestown; three grandchildren: Rozalie Elena and Silas James Smith and Talia Grace Johnson; one brother; Peter Smith II of Brocton; two sisters: Rebecca (Richard) Bean of Olean, and Rochelle (James) Bohm of Bangor, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at the Dewittville Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Dewittville, N.Y. (5821 Meadows Rd, 14728). The Rev. Pete Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Dewittville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville.
