Susie V. Ruth

Born Sept. 3, 1930, in Sprankle Mills, Pa., she was the daughter of Reed and Vera (Kennedy) Thomas. On May 15, 1948, in Erie, Pa., she married Richard W. Ruth, who survives.

Mrs. Ruth was a home maker and for many years cared for the elderly out of her home, boarding them and taking care of their daily needs. She enjoyed, crocheting, gardening and raising pigs and goats.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Richard W. Ruth’ five daughters: Peggy Giambelluca of Myrtle Beach, S.C,. Helen (Dennis) Lee, Jamestown, N.Y., Rebecca (the late Tom) Edstrom of Frewsburg, N.Y., Brenda (Tom) Fitch of Smethport, Pa and Shirley (Mike) Anderson of Kennedy, N.Y.; two brothers: Arthur Thomas of Jacksonville, Fla. and Thomas “Abe” Thomas of Erie, Pa.; a sister, Helen Stormer of Naples, Fla., 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vera Hazenburg in 1982; siblings: Paul Thomas, Kenneth Thomas, Eileen Reichenbaugh and Wilbert Thomas; and a granddaughter, Michelle Anderson.

The family will receive family and friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday (Nov. 3, 2017) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St. in Randolph. Services will follow at 1 p.m. The Rev. Rodney Mileham will officiate. Burial will follow in the Corydon Riverview Cemetery, Corydon, Pa.
