Richard A. "Dick" Harrower

KENNEDY, N.Y. — Richard A. “Dick” Harrower, 75, of Mud Creek Road, Kennedy, passed away at 10:20 p.m., Friday (Sept. 29, 2017) at Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center in Jamestown.

He was born May 27, 1942, in Jamestown, the son of the late Archie and Mae Wiles Harrower.

Dick attended Randolph Central School where he played many sports and then went on to serve in the U.S. Army.

He retired in 2002 from Truck-Lite in Falconer after 26 years of service and earlier on he had worked at the former Aolean Piano Plate Manufacturer in Randolph.

Dick was a member of the First Baptist Church of Randolph. He enjoyed sports and was a former pee-wee and midget football coach for the Randolph Raiders. He loved his family and enjoyed family picnics, spending time with his kids and grandkids, and before his illness, he enjoyed going to Lake Erie Speedway to root for #66, his son Rodney’s race car.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Ann Rambuski Harrower, whom he married on June 17, 1966, in Eldred, Pa.; three sons, Mark (Angel) Harrower and Rodney (Emma) Harrower, both of Jamestown and Richard Matthew (Keri) Harrower of Randolph; six grandchildren, Christopher, Ronald, Shian and Jordan Harrower, Paige Thomas and Melinda (Eric) Houser; and two great-grandchildren; Amelia and Liam Harrower.

He is additionally survived by his brothers, Archie (Colleen) Harrower of Kennedy and Roger (Susan) Harrower of Jamestown.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 7, 2017) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph. Visitation will not be observed. Graveside services with Full Military Honors will follow in the Randolph Cemetery, conducted by the Randolph American Legion Post1 181.
