Margaret A. Palermo

Margaret A. Palermo

Margaret A. Palermo (nee Wetmore), known to friends as “Meg,” passed away in Franklin, Tenn., on Friday, July 14, at the age of 79. She was born in Manhattan to the late Robert and Marguerite Wetmore in 1937. Meg moved with her parents at a young age to Croton-On-Hudson, N.Y., where she later graduated from Croton Harmon High School. In 1959, Meg graduated from Drew University, Madison, N.J., with a BS in Psychology. She married the late Angelo (“Ang”) Palermo in 1960, and the two made their home in Suffern, N.Y., where they raised their family and were members of Sacred Heart Church. Meg was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, baking, sewing, knitting and photography. Her favorite pastime was attending her children’s sporting events, concerts and plays. Meg and Ang relocated to Jupiter, Fla., in 1989 and Meg volunteered her time at the Jupiter Medical Center Thrift Shop. Ang passed away just before the two would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. Meg moved to Franklin in 2012 so she could spend more time with her daughter, son-in-law and her beloved “grand puppies.”

Meg is survived by three children: Catherine Sullivan of Chicago, Ill., James Palermo (Joan) of LaGrange, Ill., and Elizabeth (Eric) Hedberg of Franklin, Tenn. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Madeline and Kate Palermo of LaGrange, Ill., and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Bernadette Palermo of Jamestown, N.Y. The family will gather in Franklin later this summer to celebrate Meg’s life.

Gifts in Meg’s memory may be made to: Amedisys Foundation, 3854 American Way, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70816 or Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue, PO Box 210830 Nashville, TN 37221. An online guestbook is available at AustinFuneralService.com. 615-377-0775.
