J. William Tarbrake

An area resident all of his life, he was born Nov. 28, 1950, in Jamestown, a son of the late John and Nellie Haehn Tarbrake.

He was a 1969 graduate of Southwestern Central School and later earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Speech Communications from SUNY Geneseo.

He owned and operated HW Motors in Lakewood.

He was a member of Chautauqua Lake Antique Boat Club and a former member of Lakewood United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two brothers: Mark (Christine) Tarbrake of Jamestown and Peter Tarbrake of Cassadaga; four nieces: Morgan, Kelsey and Hannah Tarbrake of Jamestown and Kendra Tarbrake-Vega of Hagerstown, Md.; nephew, Andrew Tarbrake of Erie, Pa.; great-nieces: Madeline and Penny Tarbrake-Vega; great-nephew, Alexander Tarbrake-Vega; and a sister-in-law, Mary Tarbrake of Irondequoit, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Visitation will not be observed.
