Georgia H. Wirtner, 99, formerly of Jamestown, passed away Thursday (July 20, 2017) in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Gerry.

She was the widow of John U. Wirtner, whom she married May 8, 1937, in Little Valley, N.Y., and who died Nov. 9, 1970.

An area resident most of her life, she was born July 1, 1918, in Watts Flats, the daughter of the late Clyde and Gertrude Barnes Firth.

Georgia was a graduate of Jamestown High School and Jamestown School of Practical Nursing. She had been employed as a licensed practical nurse at WCA Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 1980.

Surviving are four daughters: Donna Ahlgren and Rita Carson, both of Jamestown, Roberta Gardner of Buffalo and Hazel Wirtner of Surprise, Ariz.; eight grandchildren: Barry Ahlgren of Charlotte, N.C., Kelly Ahlgren of Greenville, S.C., James (Sandra) Humphreys of Angier, N.C., Kevin (Sue) Humphreys of Jamestown, Robert (Pam) Carson of Lillington, N.C., Todd Carson of North Tonawanda and Heather Gardner of Kenmore, N.Y.; several great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lois Brady of California and Alice Walker of Kennedy; and a brother, Lawrence Firth of Olean.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandchild, Tracy Ahlgren; two sisters: Dorothy Nelson and Ethel Anderson; and a brother, Frank Firth.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Sam Shreffler, pastor of Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing will officiate. Inurnment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.

Friends will be received by the family Sunday from 6-8 p.m. in the Falconer Funeral Home.
