Virginia S. "Ginny" Zindler

Virginia S. “Ginny” Zindler, 94, of Bergquist Memorial Manor of Heritage Village Campus, formerly of Ravenna, Ohio, passed away Saturday (June 17, 2017) in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Gerry.

She was born Jan. 18, 1923, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late James H. and Florence Walker Short.

Ginny was a graduate of Falconer High School and was a member of the Falconer High School Band having played clarinet. She also attended Jamestown Business College. In earlier years, Ginny was employed by Weber-Knapp, Big N Department Store and Marine Midland Bank. Prior to retirement in 1986, Ginny was employed by Huntington Bank in Ravenna, Ohio.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Jamestown, Trinity Lutheran Church in Kent, Ohio, and attended the Gerry Free Methodist Church. While living in Ravenna, she served as a volunteer for Robinson Memorial Hospital.

Ginny loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, having made numerous blankets for family members and supplying her granddaughters with doll clothing and books.

Surviving are two sons: Kurt (Cindy) Zindler and Raymond Zindler, all of Falconer; her daughter, Diane (Gilbert) Becks of Newton Falls, Ohio; three grandchildren: Alicia (Shaun) Laska of Kiantone, Nicole Zindler of Portville, N.Y. and Brittany (Brian) Estock of Madison, Ohio; four great-grandchildren: Kelson Laska, Virginia Marie Kachermeyer, Taran Laska and William Kachermeyer; two brothers: George and Cecil Short, both of Falconer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert W. Zindler, whom she married March 9, 1946, in Falconer, and who died June 23, 1999; a son, Dean Zindler on Sept. 8, 2005; two brothers: James and Malcolm Short; and two sisters: Pauline Vendur and Rosalind Bird.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Sam Shreffler, chaplain of Heritage Ministries, will officiate. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday in the funeral home.
