Earldine G. Fortune

Earldine G. Fortune, 94, of 26 Cass St., Westfield, N.Y., formerly of Sherman, N.Y., passed away March 21, 2013, surrounded by her family and friends at Absolut, Westfield.

She was born Aug. 31, 1918, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Earl C. and Gertrude McCullough Smith.

She and her husband, Bill, owned and operated Bill’s IGA in Sherman for many years. She was a member of the Sherman Community Church and also a member of WW Circle of the church. Earldine enjoyed reading, playing cards and doing word puzzles. She also enjoyed her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Jean Anne (Hank Cady) Graham of Sherman, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Ronald (Carol) Graham, of Clymer, N.Y., Mark Graham, of Sherman, N.Y., and Kelly Paulson, of Charles-ton, W. Va.; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Andrew Graham, and Corey and Max Paulson.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Fortune, whom she married Aug. 14, 1937; a brother, James Smith, and two sisters, Anna Edmunds, Nora Stronz.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Spitzer Funeral Home, Sherman, N.Y., with Rev. Roger Westley, pastor of the Sherman Community Church, officiating. Friends will be received for 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
