Power Restored After Brief Outage Across City

A power outage was reported in Jamestown and surrounding areas served by the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities.

The BPU, in a message posted to Facebook, said, “We are experiencing a power outage throughout most of our electric territory at this time. No time estimate of repair is known at this time. We are aware of the outage and will report once we know more information. Thank you.”

In a follow up message to the media, the BPU said in working through troubleshooting the cause of the system trip last week, “a new issue was experienced at the Dow Street Substation that caused a brief, similar outage.”

Power should be restored fully.

“Water customers may expect discolored water for 12-24 hours due to electricity being cut to the water pumps.”

Tripped circuits at a BPU substation was blamed for a citywide power outage last week.
