Westfield Man Facing Child Endangerment, Harassment Charges

WESTFIELD — A Westfield man who police say followed a 10-year-old girl inside a village Dollar Tree store is facing child endangerment and harassment charges.

The Westfield Police Department on Tuesday announced the arrest 64-year-old James M. Riscili.

Officers responded at 5:05 p.m. Oct. 19 to Dollar Tree, 93 E. Main St., for a report of a suspicious male following a child.

“Upon arrival, patrols spoke to the victim and her guardian who alleged that the defendant had followed the victim around the store asking if she had a boyfriend,” Westfield police said in a news release. “The defendant then allegedly tried to give the victim a $20 bill stating that if she took it he would ‘show her what a boyfriend looked like.'”

The man, identified as Riscili, continued to follow the 10-year-old around the store and made “unwanted verbal contact with her,” police stated.

Riscili was confronted and eventually left the store. He is facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child, disorderly conduct and second-degree harassment and is scheduled to appear in court later.
