GERRY — A wanted Gerry man who reportedly stole a vehicle then led police on a pursuit is facing a host of charges.

James Boardman was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail following the incident, which began Saturday when New York state troopers responded to a Gerry home for a reported domestic incident. A woman told troopers that Boardman pushed her when she refused to allow him to use her vehicle.

Attempts to locate Boardman were unsuccessful.

Later in the day, Boardman reportedly returned to the woman’s home and stole the vehicle. That vehicle was then spotted later Saturday on Route 394 in Kennedy, at which point Boardman fled into Falconer.

Assisting troopers were officers from Jamestown, Lakewood and the Sheriff’s Office.

The pursuit ended on Ohio Street in Lakewood.

Boardman was taken into custody, and during a search of the vehicle troopers found a loaded hypodermic needle containing heroin.

The Gerry man is facing charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument, third-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer, reckless driving, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and second-degree harassment.

Boardman was also found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant form the Sheriff’s Office.
