CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ HANOVER — Gary E. Grover, 48, of Hanover, was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. Deputies responded at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday to a reported altercation between two people in Hanover. An investigation found that Grover had been the aggressor in a physical altercation with another person inside a residence. He was processed and transported to jail for centralized arraignment.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

¯ Rafael Rodriguez, 58, of Jamestown was charged July 4 with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated. Troopers pulled a vehicle driven by Rodriguez over for traffic violations on Washington Street in Jamestown. He allegedly failed several field sobriety tests and was taken to the State Police at Jamestown barracks, where Rodriguez allegedly provided a breath sample with a .20 percent blood alcohol content. Rodriguez allegedly had a DWI conviction within the preceding 10 years, the charge was upgraded to a felony. Rodriguez was processed, issued tickets and released. He will be in Jamestown City Court later.

¯ FREWSBURG — Cyrus Hawthorne, 38, of Youngstown, Ohio, was charged July 4 with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment. Troopers responded to a Frewsburg home for a report of a domestic disturbance. Hawthorne allegedly hit a person on the knee, broke an interior door and broke a 58-inch television. Hawthorne was charged and taken to the Chautauqua County Jail.

¯ BEMUS POINT — Thomas Bihler, 56, of Bemus Point was charged July 3 with driving while intoxicated after he was pulled over for a traffic infraction on Dutch Hollow Road. Bihler was taken to the State Police at Jamestown barracks where he reportedly provided a breath sample with a blood-alcohol content of .11 percent. Bihler will be in Ellery Town Court later.

¯ FALCONER — Samuel Williams, 25, of Falconer, was charged July 2 with second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment. State Troopers and Chautauqua County Sheriff Deputies responded to a Falconer home for a report of a domestic dispute. Williams and another person reportedly became engaged in an argument, later escalating to Williams allegedly slapping the victim and menacing her with a pair of scissors. Troopers report the incident occurred in the close proximity of a young child. Williams was processed at the State Police at Jamestown barracks and was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail.

¯ Paul Hauth, 48, of Grand Blanc, Mich., was charged with driving while intoxicated on July 3 after he was pulled over on Route 394 in Mayville for a traffic violation. After reportedly failing several field sobriety tests, Hauth was charged and taken to the State Police at Jamestown barracks, where he provided a breath sample of .08 percent. Hauth will be in Chautauqua Town Court later.

¯ Tyler Bemis of Kennedy was charged with second-degree criminal contempt on June 28 after State Troopers responded to a Kennedy home for a reported violation of an order of protection. A person returned home to find Bemis at his residence. Bemis was charged after troopers confirmed an order of protection directing Bemis to stay away from the victim, including the person’s property. Bemis was processed at the State Police at Jamestown barracks and sent to the the Chautauqua County Jail.
