Motorcycle Chase Leads Police Into PA

RIPLEY — A motorcycle pursuit involving multiple police agencies that began in Chautauqua County led to a crash and a host of charges against a North East, Pa., man Saturday.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a motorcyclist, 41-year-old Roy Rebel Yokom, for traveling 80 mph in a 40 mph zone around 11:30 a.m. on Route 20 in the town of Ripley. Yokom reportedly failed to comply with officers and was pursued westbound into Pennsylvania.

Deputies said Yokom crash his motorcycle attempting to negotiate a curve on Route 426. The Pennsylvania man was uninjured in the crash and was taken into custody.

Yokom was jailed without bail in North East and is facing charges in both states. He reportedly had an outstanding warrant in the town of Ripley, which will be addressed after he answers charges in Pennsylvania.

Sheriff’s deputies were assisted Saturday by New York state police and the Lakewood-Busti Police Department.

In March 2015, Yokom was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation and unlawful possession of marijuana after his vehicle was observed speeding on West Main Street in Ripley.
