HANOVER — A Buffalo motorcyclist has died from injuries sustained in a crash Monday in the town of Hanover.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday that 60-year-old Michael P. Shoemaker was pronounced dead at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo as a result of his injuries.

Deputies responded around 4:30 p.m. Monday to the crash on Route 20 in the town. An investigation determined 48-year-old Tammy L. Mays of Silver Creek had allegedly struck Shoemaker’s motorcycle.

Shoemaker was flown by Starflight helicopter to ECMC.

Mays was issued a traffic ticket for failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign. She was scheduled to appear in Hanover Town Court at a later date.

It wasn’t clear if Mays will face additional charges as a result of the fatal crash.
