Giving gifts, doing for others and providing service to the community and beyond are some of her attributes. She gets satisfaction from making others happy, as does her mother, Tracey Barron, who she models.

“My mom always helps people and I admire that,” she said. “Through the church, Girl Scouts and Friends of Timbercrest, it is easy to help people, but I think some people think it is hard to do.”

Each year, the holiday season gives the 17-year old opportunities to give the gift of service and every year she adds a bit more. Her latest service project has been to collect warm socks and hats, to give to 40 residents at Randolph Manor Home for Adults. Attached to each bundle is a note that reads, “You are loved from the top of your head to the tip of your toes.” She has taken part in her church’s living nativity for about eight years in the role of an angel, a shepherd and for the last two years as Mary.

For the past few years, Barron has helped at the Randolph Community Thanksgiving dinner in whatever area is needed. This year she made and donated two lattice-topped apple pies. She also gave a batch of cookies to the living nativity.

Forty warm knitted hats and pairs of socks were collected and given to the residents at Randolph Manor for Adults.

“When I was younger, I loved baking but became too busy,” she said. “During the shutdown I renewed my interest in baking.”

She is currently taking Cooking 101 with Mrs. Sarah Congdon.

“Rylee goes above and beyond what she is asked to do. It’s not just about the cooking, but prep and clean up as well,” Congdon said. “She is a great leader in the kitchen while working with fellow students. She takes the lead, but delegates well.”

“I think that class piqued my interest in trying new things and in cooking too,” Barron said.

She participates in her church’s Love in Action project, an effort to spread the love of Jesus by preparing, handing out and delivering meals and boxes of food and she has gone with the church’s mission team to Kentucky and NYSUM in New York City. Mask making with Mask Makers of Western New York was another community project in which the young Randolph woman participated.

The teenager sewed masks for Maskmakers of Western New York to be given to anyone needing one.

There may not be a more well-rounded, more giving teenager.

“We have so many extraordinary students that come through the doors of Randolph Central School and Rylee Barron is one of those students,” said Michele Swan. “I had the pleasure of having Rylee in my American History class last year when students had the choice to be remote. It was a difficult year for so many of us, and Rylee rose to the occasion and tackled the year. As we struggled with connection and technology issues, Rylee was always in communication with me and willing to participate.”

“She is one of the kindest and hardest working people I know. She not only works hard in school and participates in sports, she is very active in her community. You don’t find many people her age who are willing to give their time to help others and work towards making their communities a better place. Rylee is that young woman and I couldn’t be prouder of her and happy that I was able to be a small part of her life. I am certain that Rylee will be very successful in all that she does.”

The high school senior has made her way onto the high honors roll for the last two years. Her sixth year on the RCS girl’s volleyball team recently ended with the team finishing as Section 6 Champions. She was her school’s 2021 Homecoming Queen.

“Rylee is always going above and beyond to help others and pitch in whenever and wherever necessary and does not expect anything in return. In fact, quite often she is working behind the scenes,” said Randolph student council advisor Debbie Luce. “I’m so grateful to have her as one of my student council members and our school and community is lucky to have her as well.”

The high school student has taken dance lessons at Village Dance Studio since she was 3 years old, with the exception of the year she danced with Expressions in order to be on a competition team. She started with jazz and tap and gradually added pointe, ballet, and contemporary dance. She has traveled with a group from the Village Dance Studio to see The Radio City Music Hall Rockettes perform and has performed with the same group at Disney World in 2019 and she will return in 2022 to perform once again. For a few years she did competitive cheer.

Working toward the Girl Scout Gold Award is her ongoing project. She will be blazing and mapping existing trails at Camp Timbercrest where she helps facilitate programs. As a member of Friends of Timbercrest, she helps ready projects for younger scouts and cleans up the camp before the summer camping season begins. She also has split wood, moved boats and kayaks, helped move lumber for a lean-to project and winterized tents and yurts. In January, she will be part of a pioneering group to begin and facilitate Girl Scout troops for younger girls.

The teen helps her mom edit senior portraits. She is a Tinkerbelle fan and has a collection of Tinkerbelle-themed items. This has earned her the nickname of Tink, given to her by her mother. Her pet chinchilla, Churro, has been in her care for the past three years. The entire Barron Family claims their German Shepherd named Phoenix.

She is the daughter of Dan and Tracey Barron, the middle child between two brothers. Her older brother, Jadon, currently plays junior hockey for the New Jersey Protec Junior Ducks in the EHL. Twelve year old Ty attends seventh grade at RCS.

Expect to hear more about the young woman as she navigates life. Her plan for the last three years has been to have a career in forensic psychology and she will most likely achieve it. She hopes to attend Kean University in New Jersey.
