MAYVILLE — The Mayville-Chautauqua Community Chamber of Commerce said planning has commenced for the 2022 Mayville Winter Festival.

After having to cancel the 2021 winter festival due to an uptick in COVID cases, the chamber’s volunteer committee announced that the event is back on track for the coming year. Among new additions to the festival this year is a name change.

To simplify the lengthy name and keep it connected to the Mayville area, the festival formerly known as the President’s Day Weekend Winter Festival will now be known simply as the Mayville Winter Festival. The committee will continue to keep it scheduled during President’s Day Weekend. The dates for the 2022 festival are as follows:

¯ Friday, Feb. 18, 2022: Opening Ceremonies in the evening with the lighting of the castle along with the crowning of King and Queen.

¯ Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022: Cold Water Rescue, the Polar Plunge, a Chili Cookoff, the In-Crowd from 5-8 p.m., fireworks at 8 p.m., along with food trucks, carriage rides, snowmobile rides, ice fishing, vendors, and much more.

¯ Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022: The second annual Winter Fest 5k, snowmobile rides and carriage rides, ice fishing, vendors and food trucks, and much more!

Businesses interested in becoming a sponsor of the event or interested in being a vendor in the heated outdoor tent are asked to contact Sorena Gilkinson, chamber chair at 716-269-4129 or Shannon Biekarck, chamber coordinator at 716-487-1101 ext. 208.
