City Woman Dies After Vehicle Strikes Tree

A Jamestown woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash Friday evening.

The Lakewood-Busti Police Department said Carol Boyer, 65, was a front-seat passenger in a vehicle that struck a tree. In a news release, the department said Joseph Wisnewski, 51, also of Jamestown, was southbound on Busti Sugar Grove Road around 6:30 p.m. when he swerved to avoid striking a deer.

The vehicle went off the road and struck the tree head-on.

Wisnewski had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Boyer was pronounced dead at the scene by a county coroner.

Two children also in the vehicle – a 13-year-old and a 2-year-old – were transported along with Wisnewski to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment.

Lakewood-Busti police were assisted by members of the Busti and Lakewood fire departments and Chautauqua County EMS.
