Asher Tefft of Forestville nearly had a front row seat to a tornado on Thursday.

Tefft was at a friend’s house near the family’s grape fields when a funnel cloud began forming in the sky about 30-50 feet away.

“It was really raining, storming, really windy,” Tefft said. “But it really didn’t stay around that long. It disappeared and then went farther away. I got a picture of it right before it disappeared.”

Reports included a tree bringing down an electric line in Dunkirk, a tree down blocking a road in Sinclairville, a tree and power lines down in Cassadaga, trees and electric lines down in Dewittville, barn debris all over a road in Dewittville.

Several roads in the Ellington area were impassable for stretches of the evening, including a portion of Route 62 after a mud and rocks slid from a hill onto the road.
