An underground cable fault caused a power outage Monday night in downtown Jamestown.

The Board of Public Utilities reported the outage to about 97 customers around 8:45 p.m. along some sections of Second and Third streets.

Shortly after the power outage, the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities posted a statement on its Facebook page.

“We have an electric outage in the downtown area which began around 8:45 p.m.; stretching from Covenant Manor to the (Jamestown) High School due to a breaker opening. Crews are out on the job to solve the problem. No repair estimate is known at this time,” the posted stated.

Power was restored to some around 11:30 p.m., with the remainder restored around 1:30 a.m.
