3 Indicted By Federal Grand Jury In City Cocaine Ring

A suspected cocaine ring within the city of Jamestown has netted three area residents indictments by a federal grand jury.

U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy Jr. on Tuesday announced the indictments charging 22-year-old Kori Robinson and 20-year-old Islandah Mitchell of Jamestown and 25-year-old Bruce Page of Buffalo with conspiring to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, cocaine.

The move to federal court comes after the three were stopped March 2 on North Main Street at Lamont Street. Police had previously received information that Robinson and Mitchell were traveling to Jamestown with cocaine and crack cocaine in their vehicle.

During a traffic stop around 3 p.m., police detected the scent of marijuana, and during a search of the vehicle discovered a brown purse containing 4.7 ounces of crack cocaine and 3.5 ounces of powder cocaine.

The Jamestown Police Department said the narcotics had an estimated street value of $10,000 to $12,000, and “would have likely been sold within 24 hours.”

Lenihan said officers also recovered a quantity of suspected marijuana; empty packaging materials; a metal spoon with suspected drug residue; and several cell phones.

Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said March 3 that the cocaine was likely targeted for local distribution.

“The group is believed to have likely trafficked these drugs from the city of Buffalo to be sold here in Jamestown,” he said. “This is a common trend that we have seen for many years here in Jamestown where drugs are brought here from outside areas to be sold here on our streets.”

On Jan. 27, the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Mitchell’s Lafayette Street apartment in Jamestown. Investigators recovered quantities of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine; $2,000 in cash; two digital scales; credit cards; an iPhone; and a box of ammunition.

All three were arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy. Page is being detained while Mitchell and Robinson were released on conditions.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, and a $1 million fine. The indictment is the result of an investigation by the Jamestown Police Department, Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and FBI.
