‘I Can’t Discuss’

Falconer Takes No Action During Special Meeting

FALCONER — No action was taken by the Falconer Village Board during a special meeting scheduled “for the purpose of discussing a fire department correspondence.”

The board entered into executive session immediately after opening the meeting inside the Community Building located at 101 W. Main St. Before exiting open session, village attorney Greg Peterson addressed the public and the board about the procedure of the meeting.

Peterson said he recommended that the board enter executive session “at which time we’ll review personnel matters which are appropriate for executive session and not subject to public conversation.”

However, it was noted by Peterson that some individuals who were in attendance would likely be called into the executive session. About 10 people from the public attended the meeting.

Following a brief period of time, four individuals were called into the board room to join the meeting in executive session. Later, the same four people exited the board room and Falconer trustees returned to open session.

When entering back into the special meeting, Mayor Jim Rensel noted that the board was in executive session “for an employee matter.”

Village trustees, with no additional business to discuss, then moved to adjourn the special meeting.

When asked by The Post-Journal for clarification about the purpose of the meeting and if any action would be taken as a result of it, Rensel said “I can’t discuss what we discussed in executive session, unfortunately.”
