City Police Seize Meth; 5 Charged After Search

A large quantity of crystal methamphetamine likely set for sale was seized from a city home, and five local residents are facing charges, the Jamestown Police Department announced.

Taken into custody following a search of 12 Bishop St. on criminal possession charges were 38-year-old Jarrod K. Adams, 27-year-old Michael J. Murphy, 19-year-old Camille I. Lopez, 44-year-old Robin J. Moore and 53-year-old Austin Gordon.

On Tuesday, members of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, New York State Police and U.S. Marshals responded to the Bishop Street address in an attempt to locate Lopez, who was wanted on an outstanding federal absconding warrant.

At the residence, officers said they found Lopez “and also observed several other individuals and a large quantity of what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine inside.”

A search warrant was obtained, and investigators later seized a half pound of crystal meth, $1,500 in cash and other drug paraphernalia.

Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said the methamphetamine was being used and sold from the city residence. He also noted that a “major portion” of local property crimes can be related to area meth use.

“This is an unfortunate sign of what we have been dealing with here in our area,” Samuelson said. “These individuals were all living within this location for the purpose of using and selling methamphetamine. This amount of drugs was likely set to be sold from that location. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to combat this ongoing issue here in our area and will continue to aggressively go after those who are selling this drug.”

“A major portion of our property crimes, including larcenies and burglaries, can be directly related to the use and sales of meth,” he continued. “People steal then sell or trade the items for drugs. It’s a viscous cycle that we as a community to be aware of and work to deal with.”

Adams was reportedly found in possession of 8.48 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, as well as heroin, fentanyl and suboxone. He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of drug paraphernalia and being a fugitive from justice in Erie, Pa.

Murphy was found with 3.2 grams of crystal meth, scales and packaging material. He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

Lopez was taken into custody on the warrant. She was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

Moore and Gordon were each charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

All were held for arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
