A Jamestown man identified as 59-year-old Kent Norgren died as the result of a vehicle-pedestrian crash Monday morning.

Jamestown police and firefighters were called shortly before 6 a.m. to Prendergast Avenue, between East Fifth and East Sixth streets, for the crash involving an SUV. Investigators remained on scene for several hours while the road was closed to traffic.

After the crash, Norgren was transported to UPMC Chautauqua hospital and later UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa. He died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, Jamestown police said Monday in a press release.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit responded to Prendergast Avenue to investigate the crash.

No charges have been filed against the driver of the SUV, Jamestown police said.

The crash remains under investigation. No further information was made available.
