Another ‘Macker’ In The Books

More than 170 teams filled the streets of Jamestown over the weekend to participate in the third annual Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

As has been the case in previous tournaments, one of the defining aspects of the weekendlong festivities is the varied levels of competition: from playing just for fun to bragging rights and beyond. This year’s play on the courts did not disappoint.

By all accounts, the tournament was a rousing success.

Twenty percent of the net proceeds generated from the tournament will be donated to the Alex Foulk Fund. The fund was created by Kim Carlson, who is also the founder of A Fresh Start — an advocacy, group dedicated to providing encouragement and support through personal experiences for those suffering directly or indirectly with substance abuse disorders, including drug addiction and alcoholism.

The tournament couldn’t be made possible without the work of countless volunteers who devoted their time and effort and to The Post-Journal, Dunkirk Observer and Times Observer of Warren, Pa. — along with Media One Group acting as media sponsor.

Results from the tournament and photographs of the winners will be published at a later date.
