Several area fire departments were called to Falconer Central School on East Main Street after smoke was reported inside early Thursday.

Interior firefighters from multiple departments were summoned around 2 a.m. The source of the smoke wasn’t immediately known, though fire officials said it was coming from the area of the cafeteria.

Falconer’s ladder truck was used to search the school’s roof.

The school’s fire alarm remained on while crews entered the building. The fire was reported out around 2:40 a.m.

Firefighters from Kennedy, Frewsburg, Gerry and Kiantone were called for assistance. County fire coordinators also responded.
