A fire heavily damaged a city residence Friday night.

The fire was reported after 9 p.m. at 24 Phillips St., at the intersection of Falconer Street.

Off-shift firefighters were summoned to help douse the blaze. Two city fire investigators were called as well.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known. The area around Phillips and Falconer streets was closed to traffic.
