Two Jamestown men are facing a host of charges after firing several shots inside a Barrett Avenue residence late Wednesday.

Douglas P. Beardsley, 33, and Jarried M. Dean, 25, were arraigned in Jamestown City Court on multiple charges, including first-degree burglary and endangering the welfare of a child, after the shooting was reported to police around 7:25 p.m.

Beardsley and Dean both reportedly fired several shots after entering the residence located near Cowden Place. Five people — including a 4- and 2-year old — were inside at the time of the shooting, police told The Post-Journal.

No one was injured in the incident.

After fleeing the area, both men were quickly located by police and taken into custody without incident. While in custody, Dean was allegedly found in possession of two unprescribed Hydrocodone pills.

Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said Wednesday’s shooting was likely targeted and not a random act of violence. He could not provide a motive for the incident.

“This was an extremely dangerous situation and we are fortunate that nobody was injured,” Samuelson said. “The quick action and response of the responding officers allowed for the suspects to be taken into custody without further incident.”

An investigation determined that at least one of the firearms used in the shooting was stolen.

Beardsley was further charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree menacing, reckless endangerment, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Dean was further charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Both were arraigned in front of City Court Judge John LaMancuso and committed to Chautauqua County Jail without bail. They are scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing Dec. 26.

It wasn’t immediately clear if either had an attorney.

The Barrett Avenue shooting was the latest in a string of targeted attacks Jamestown police were investigating. No serious injuries have been reported after shootings were reported in October and November at several city locations.
