Police Identify Woman Killed, Man Injured In Shooting

A woman was shot dead and a man injured in a shooting incident in Sugar Grove on Wednesday evening.

Police have identified the woman killed and man injured Wednesday evening at a residence in Warren County.

According to Lt. Wayne Kline, Pennsylvania State Police Crime Section Commander, 32-year-old Jessica L. White was killed, and 34-year-old Matthew B. White, was shot following a shooting incident that took place between 5-5:30 p.m. Wednesday at 5390 Brown Hill Road in Chandlers Valley, located within Sugar Grove, Pa.

Matthew White was in critical condition Thursday morning in intensive care at UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Police are not speculating about what happened.

“It’s a shooting at this point,” Kline said. “There are some suspicious circumstances. We haven’t ruled it one way or the other.”

Both Matthew and Jessica White are listed as victims in police documents.

“We’re continuing to run down the background information,” Kline said. “Based on the evidence we collect and forensic exam of that evidence, interviews … pending outcome of the ballistics testing and the autopsy, that will determine which direction the investigation goes.”

“We treat it as the worst-case scenario and hope for the best-case scenario,” he said.

In addition to continuing with interviews, an autopsy is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, and ballistics testing has been ordered.

“We did recover a pisto l… with some shell casings at the scene,” Kline said. “That was sent to our ballistics lab.”

There is a rush on that testing, he said, and results could be back as early as this weekend.
