Trooper Uninjured In Arkwright Shooting Incident

ARKWRIGHT – A New York State trooper was not injured following a shooting incident Saturday evening in the town of Arkwright.

According to Capt. Eric Balon, Zone III commander of the State Police, a trooper was running radar on Route 83, near Route 60, when he heard a gun shoot. The trooper reportedly saw a hand pointing a gun outside a window of a nearby residence and fire a second shot.

“He wasn’t pointing the gun right at the trooper, but it was in his general direction,” Balon said.

Police, with the help of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, were able to take the unidentified shooter into custody. Balon said no motive for the shooting has been determined.
