UPDATE: Man Killed In Panama Amish Buggy Crash

PANAMA – One man is dead following a crash involving an Amish buggy carrying five passengers Thursday evening in the town of Panama.

Chautauqua County Sheriff Joe Gerace told The Post-Journal the buggy was traveling southbound on Weeks Road in the town when it was struck and destroyed by a vehicle. Gerace confirmed that an adult male in the buggy was pronounced dead at the scene.

A female adult and child in the buggy sustained serious injuries and were transported by Starflight helicopter to UPMC Hamot hospital in Erie, Pa.

Two other children in the buggy also sustained injuries and were transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Gerace said.
