It’s old and warn, but it once served a very gubernatorial purpose.

The former State Gov. Reuben Fenton’s chair is prominently displayed at the Fenton History Center. At first glance, you may think that it looks a bit uncomfortable, but for Fenton, it was probably very comfortable, regal and stately.

In Albany, he used it to perform official and ceremonial functions, Collections Manager Norman P. Carlson said.
