A city resident and horror film enthusiast is taking part in an online “Face of Horror” contest.

Competitors have the chance of winning $13,000. Other perks for winning include a walk-on role in an independent horror film, a two-night stay in Buffalo Bill’s house — the filming location for “Silence of the Lambs,” and the chance to join Kane Hodder — known for his role as Jason Voorhees in the “Friday the 13th” franchise — in an exclusive photoshoot for Rue Morgue Magazine.

Truver was inspired to enter the contest because she wanted to try her hand at acting and to secure her kids’ future.

“I entered the contest because I’ve always wanted to do acting,” Truver said. “I thought of it as an opportunity to put myself out there.”

Truver is a longtime horror fan, starting her experience with it at a young age.

“I enjoy watching different types of horror films,” she said. “Old movies like the first Alien and Silver Bullet scared me to death at a young age, because I was so young but also gave me a rush you can only get from watching scary movies. I’ve been hooked ever since.”

Truver is currently seventh in her group in the competition. Votes can be bought, with money raised going toward the B+ Foundation — the largest provider of financial assistance for families dealing with pediatric cancer. A free daily vote also is available.

Voting occurs in rounds, and the current round ends Thursday. Votes can be cast for Truver at faceofhorror.org/2022/truver-lindsay

“It would be an amazing experience and I would love to win,” Truver said. “Any support from the community would be great. My family and friends have been great. Voting ends for this round on Sept 15. It could change my stars for my kids and I.”
