Two fires breaking out days apart last week on Myrtle Street in the city of Jamestown have been ruled accidental.

No serious injuries were reported in either fire — one reported around 12:15 p.m. April 20 at 33 Myrtle St. and the other at 2:30 p.m. April 21 at 62 Myrtle.

Three adults were displaced following the April 20 fire, first reported as coming from the basement. An investigation found the cause to be from a malfunctioning natural gas heating appliance.

Two occupants were transported to UPMC Chautauqua for an evaluation.

A day later, city firefighters were again called to Myrtle after a woman returned home to find smoke on the first floor. The fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes.

Investigators ruled the fire as accidental, with the cause coming from an electric lamp in the living room.
