Wanted Man Is Taken Into Custody
A man wanted on federal drug warrants has been taken into custody.
The Jamestown Police Department on Tuesday announced the arrest of 27-year-old Michael Murphy by members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force, Jamestown police, Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s K-9 unit.
The city man was reportedly found hiding in the attic of 31 Linwood Ave. A tip led to his discovery, the department said in a news release Tuesday.
Authorities had been looking for Murphy on federal drug warrants, including conspiracy with intent to distribute and several other federal drug-related charges. He was charged in July 2019 after a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine likely set for sale was seized from a city home and Murphy was reportedly found with 3.2 grams of crystal meth, scales and packaging material. He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
