County Reports 25 COVID-19 Hospitalizations

The Chautauqua County Department of Health on Monday reported that 25 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized, the highest count during the pandemic.

In addition, 16 new cases of the corornavirus were announced, in addition to the 28 reported over the weekend.

The cases include nine in the Dunkirk zip code, nine in Fredonia, six in Silver Creek, nine in Jamestown, two in Forestville, two in Lakewood and one each in Cassadaga, Stockton Kennedy, Ashville, Findley Lake, Bemus Point and Gerry.

As of Monday, there were 142 active cases for those who continue to recover under orders from local health officials.

As for Tanglewood Manor, the site of a COVID-19 outbreak in October, the county Health Department said there remains one active case among employees and 14 active cases among residents. To date, 23 employees and 75 residents at Tanglewood have recovered.

The department also said it is still investigating a cluster of cases in the north county as the result of a private event; at least 21 cases have been linked to the event, with three currently active and 16 recovered.

At the Jamestown Fire Department, there remains seven active cases among employees.

To date there have been 1,104 total confirmed cases, 954 recoveries and 14 deaths.
