Dunkirk Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19

An employee with the Dunkirk City School District has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The district announced the positive case Wednesday in a news release. In it, district officials said they have worked closely with the employee and the Chautauqua County Department of Health and determined that no further action was necessary to “ensure the health and safety of district staff and students” as the employee hasn’t been on any of the campuses since Sept. 24.

4 NEW CASES

Four new cases of COVID-19 were reported Wednesday by the county Health Department. The new cases are all located within the village of Fredonia.

There remains 34 active cases for those who continue to recover under orders from local health officials. In addition, 283 county residents are under quarantine/isolation orders. Not all of those being monitored are confirmed to have COVID-19 but have either shown symptoms, are awaiting results or have risk factors.

There are also 31 people under domestic traveler quarantine for having arrived to Chautauqua County from a state listed on the New York state travel advisory, as well as 618 recoveries, 10 deaths 622 total confirmed cases and 44,555 negative test results.
