5th Catt. Virus Death Reported In Oct.

Another individual in Cattaraugus County has died from the corornavirus.

The Cattaraugus County Health Department announced Friday that a 71-year-old female died due to COVID-19 related compilations. “She was 71 year old female who developed respiratory failure and was unable to overcome her illness despite aggressive medical treatment,” the department wrote in a news release. “We extend our deepest condolences to her family and the entire Cattaraugus County community.”

This is the 11th death in Cattaraugus County for the current pandemic, and fifth since Oct. 1.

On Wednesday, a 97 year old male died. On Tuesday, a 62-year-old female died. On Monday, a 67-year-old male died. Oct. 1, a 75-year-old male died.

The number of COVID cases have increased as well. Cattaraugus County reported 19 new cases Thursday and five cases on Friday, bringing the total to 66 active cases.

According to Cattaraugus County’s COVID-19 Case tracker, since the start of the pandemic, there have been 300 total confirmed cases — 28 in the northwestern end of the county, 50 in the northeastern end of the county, 51 in the southeastern portion of the county and 171 in the southwestern portion of the county.
