Zoning Board Approves Special Use Permit

A Lakewood businesses is looking to expand into the city of Jamestown.

On Wednesday, the Jamestown Zoning Board of Appeals approved a special use permit for Classic Brass Inc. According to the petition submitted to the zoning board, Classic Brass Inc., located at 2051 Stoneman Circle, Lakewood, is requesting a special use permit to convert an existing building located at 326 Fluvanna Ave., into a light manufacturing facility on a parcel owned by Dunkirk Fredonia Telephone, in a C-M (service and highway commercial district) zone. A light manufacturing operation is permitted in a C-M zone, but a special use permit approved by the zoning board is required.

Andrew Creighton of Classic Brass spoke on behalf of the petition. He said the business is looking to move three CNC machines to the new location. He said four to eight employees will be located at the new site. He added there is adequate parking and shipping area at the Fluvanna building site.

Creighton was asked if Classic Brass was moving from its current location in the Stoneman Industrial Park. Creighton said the company is not moving from the industrial park. He said the new location is an expansion of the business. Classic Brass has an offer to purchase the property from DFT.

Mike Latone Jr. of D&S Glass told the zoning board he is in favor of Classic Brass moving into the building, which is near D&S Glass, located at 333 Fluvanna Ave.

There were no written correspondence sent to the zoning board in favor or against the special use permit.

Classic Brass is a manufacturing company of handcrafted, traditional solid brass hardware.
