Council Approves New Department Heads

New city of Jamestown department heads and appointments have been approved.

On Monday, the Jamestown City Council approved the appointments during its regular voting session meeting. The appointments were first announced Jan. 1 during Eddie Sundquist’s inauguration as mayor, but the council didn’t approve the designations until Monday.

The new city department head appointments included Jennifer Williams, who was named city clerk/treasurer; Crystal Surdyk, who was appointed development director; and Elliot Raimondo, who was named corporation counsel/human resources. Jeff Lehman will remain public works director and Joseph Bellitto will stay on as comptroller until his retirement later this year.

Other appointments on boards and commissions included three new members of the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities. The new members include Gregory Anderson, Lana Huston and Kenneth Mark, who will be replacing Martha Zenns, Terrence Horner and Ralph Wallace. Marie Carrubba, Ward 4 councilwoman, was re-appointed to the BPU, as a member of the council. New councilman Grant Olson, Ward 5, was also appointed to the BPU.

Further appointments included Ellen Ditonto, who will remain as the city Zoning Board of Appeals chairwoman. New appointments to the zoning board included Timothy Smeal and Stephen Sorg. Additional new appointment included Michael Laurin to the city Planning Commission; and Peter Schiera and Margaret Kaltenmeier to the Jamestown Local Development Corp.

Additional appointments included Heather Fagan and Debra Loder-Clark as members of the Board of Assessment Review; Andrew Nickerson and Steven Nowell as members of the Board of Electrical Examiners; Gregory Noon to the Jamestown Urban Renewal Agency; Adam Irgang and John Bauer to the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Commission; Russell Diethrick Jr., Bauer, David Anderson, Anton Leenders, Leigh Rovegno and Jennifer Lumia to the Riverfront Management Council; and George Spitale, as chairman, Daniel Kell, Scott Pentheny and Joshua Miller to the Veterans Memorial Commission.
